Data API Terms

Last updated . Operated by Phulax LLC (“we”). These terms add to the site's Terms of Use. By making an API key you agree to both. Contact: maptheblock@gmail.com.

What the API is

The API returns public figures that government agencies and other open publishers release, as we have compiled them for Map the Block. Each response names the source, period and licence. We don't add scores, grades or rankings.

What you may do

What you may not do

Credit

Where you show the data, add: “Data via Map the Block (maptheblock.com), from official public sources.” Parks hours, phones, fees and camping fields that come from OpenStreetMap are under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0) and need “© OpenStreetMap contributors”; data you build from those fields stays under the ODbL.

Accuracy

Figures are shown as their sources publish them. Sources have gaps, delays and errors, and we can make mistakes combining them. Crime figures are incidents reported by police agencies and depend on how many agencies report. The API is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, completeness, availability or fitness for a purpose.

Plans, billing and limits

Your account and keys

Keep keys secret. You're responsible for calls made with your keys. We store only a fingerprint of each key and count calls per account; we don't log the places you look up with your account.

Ending access

We may suspend or end access for use that breaks these terms. You may stop using the API and revoke your keys at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Phulax LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from use of the API or reliance on its data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
